Accessibility Statement for Appletorre House

As our building is Victorian the flats are not suitable for wheelchair access in the main building.  Flat 2 has 2 steps up to it,  20cm and 15cm high but we have a ramp that we can supply to this flat which is directly next to the car park.  The customer would have to have mobility, or have a carer as the kitchen is  of standard fitting and the light switches of normal height. The shower has a high step of 28cm and 14cm width there is a hand rail next to the toilet.  The double bed in the lounge is a pull down wall bed 4ft 6in with easy access on one side, and the flooring in this area is a short pile carpet.

Flats 3 & 4 are on the ground floor of the building but there are 4 uneven steps to the front door with a hand rail to one side and there is a step into the showers in these flats.
No pets are allowed in the flats, the only exception to this is assistance dogs, and we do not allow smoking, so people with allergies or breathing conditions should benefit by this, non feather pillows and duvets are standard.

All 9 flats have freeview boxes and have teletext televisions which are of help to the deaf or hard of hearing.

Parking is available, 1 car per flat close to the front of the building, it is tarmac sloping downwards from the road. We can assist guests with their luggage.

All flats have smoke detectors and mains fire alarms.

They also all have fridges which can be used to store medication.

Laundry facilities are available consisting of washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board.

There is a folder in each flat which contains further information about Appletorre House and details of emergency contacts including doctors and hospitals.

Entry doors to the flats in the main building are heavy fire doors with door closers. The main  front door has  security code buttons for entry. Electricity is supplied through coin meters which are fitted inside cupboards in each flat.

Mobile phone reception varies in each flat and according to the provider.
